Patricia Ryan, an avid chamber musician, has performed with some of the world's leading chamber musicians in her career, including pianist Emanuel Ax, the Pacifica String Quartet, violinists Geoff Nuttall, Ian Swensen, Axel Strauss, Wei He, Bettina Mussumeli, violists John Largess, Ivo-Jan van der Werff, Jodi Levitz, Ashleigh Gordon, Peter Slowik, Steve Dann, Max Mandel, and cellists Norman Fischer, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, David Geber, Anthony Elliott, and Natasha Brofsky.

Since 2017, Ms. Ryan is the cellist of the Artaria String Quartet based in St. Paul, Minnesota. As a member, she is on the faculty of the Artaria Chamber Music School, Stringwood Chamber Music Festival and assists at the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition. 

A multifaceted musician, Ms. Ryan is actively involved in a wide range of groups, including the conductorless string ensemble KINETIC, contemporary music ensemble 10th Wave Chamber Music Collective, and the genre-bending ensemble, Delphia Cello Quartet.

A passionate teacher, Ms. Ryan on faculty at Walker|West Music Academy, serving the Twin Cities area. She currently has openings in her studio and offers 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour lessons. 

Patricia is a three-time alumna of the Tanglewood Music Center where she worked closely with the Boston Symphony Orchestra members and visiting conductors including Andris Nelsons, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Stéphane Denève, Charles Dutoit, Christoph von Dohnányi and John Williams and shared the stage with Gil Shaham and Anne-Sophie Mutter.

Ms. Ryan has also been a three-time orchestral participant in the Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra and a chamber fellow at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival where she worked with members of the Artis String Quartet, Alexander String Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, and Brentano String Quartet, as well as resident Yale School of Music faculty. She has also participated in the Chamber Music Program at Domaine Forget and Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as the member of the Young Artist in Residence string quartet with her previous group, The Kamila Quartet. ​

Ms. Ryan has completed a second Masters of Music at Rice University Shepherd School of Music on full tuition scholarship under the tutelage of Norman Fischer, an Artist Certificate in Chamber Music Performance and a Masters of Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Jean-Michel Fonteneau, and a Bachelors of Music at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music with Tchaikovsky Competition laureate Nathaniel Rosen and Alexander Sulieman on full scholarship.

Ms. Ryan participated and received top prizes in the Plowman, Coleman, and Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions as the cellist in Trio 507 during her first masters studies and participated in the 2017 Robert Mann String Quartet Seminar as a founding member of The Kamila Quartet during her second masters studies. She has also performed internationally in Portugal and China as part of the Viana de Castello International Music Festival and the San Francisco-Shanghai International Chamber Music Festival.

She has participated in master classes with Alisa Weilerstein, Steven Isserlis, Menahem Pressler, Kim Kashkashian, Bonnie Hampton, Guarneri String Quartet and Takács Quartet and has shared the stage with pop rock legends Jeff Beck and Tom Jones in a Grammy Foundation celebration of Sir George Martin.

Additionally, Patricia is a current Assistant Librarian for the Minnesota Orchestra and was the Librarian for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra from 2012-2015.

She is currently performing on a 1977 Gio Batta Morassi cello and a 1988 Roger Zabinski bow previously owned by Robert Jamieson of the Minnesota Orchestra.
